Scope of Practice
The boundary every MenoBoss credential holder agrees to work within.
Educational, not clinical
MenoBoss certifications are non-clinical educational credentials. They do not confer registration as a health practitioner in any jurisdiction.
Each tier has its own scope, set out below, and it is exact. Diagnosis, prescribing, treatment and clinical advice always sit with a qualified clinician.
Scope by tier
Menopause Champion: understands and advocates for herself.
Menopause Advocate: accompanies and refers.
Midlife Practitioner: educates, plans, accompanies and refers.
Train the Trainer: the Trainer licence is permission to teach and assess MenoBoss certifications. It is not a clinical licence.
What plans means at the Practitioner tier
A Midlife Practitioner may put a written plan together with a woman: food, movement, sleep, stress, and the questions to take to her doctor. She recommends. She does not prescribe.
A plan never includes starting, stopping or adjusting hormone therapy, any medication, or any supplement. Those decisions belong to a clinician, at every tier, without exception.
Where the Champion's line falls
A Menopause Champion may tell another woman what she learned, hand over the source rather than her own conclusion, and encourage her to go and see somebody. That is not outside her scope and it never was.
What she may not do is accompany her: go with her, speak for her to a manager or a clinician, or carry the weight of being the person that woman is relying on. That is the Advocate's work, and advocating for workplaces and communities sits at the Advocate tier and above.
What every credential holder may do
Explain the stages of the menopause transition and its common symptoms; help someone describe their pattern; share general lifestyle and self-care information; encourage and support a conversation with a doctor.
What you must never do
Diagnose menopause or any other condition; recommend, adjust or discourage hormone therapy or any medication or supplement; interpret test results; imply that you are a doctor, nurse or registered health professional; or use the MenoBoss marks in a way that suggests a clinical qualification.
Urgent situations
Any sign of self-harm, severe depression, unexplained bleeding, or acute physical symptoms must be referred to a clinician or emergency service immediately. Supporting someone never means delaying care.
